Tesla China Brings Back Cash Discounts! Model Y Gets Up to Around THB 46,000 Off Amid Fierce EV Competition

Tesla China is once again taking steps to boost sales by launching a cash discount campaign for inventory vehicles

covering both the Model 3 and Model Y. The promotion is available to customers who place an order and take delivery by September 30, 2026, making it one of the most closely watched promotions of the month. The return of these discounts comes at a time when competition in China’s electric vehicle market is intensifying, while Tesla’s domestic sales have declined for the third consecutive month.

How Much Are Tesla China’s Discounts?
Tesla China is offering the following cash discounts on inventory vehicles:

  • Model Y Up to RMB 10,000, or approximately THB 46,000
  • Model 3 RMB 5,000, or approximately THB 23,000
The promotion applies to inventory vehicles available in China, and customers must take delivery by September 30, 2026, subject to Tesla China’s terms and conditions.

Tesla China Sales Decline for the Third Consecutive Month
According to the latest data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), Tesla delivered 50,047 vehicles to customers in China in August 2026, down approximately 12.4% year over year (YoY). This marks the third consecutive month of year-over-year declines in Tesla’s domestic sales.
The figures highlight the increasingly intense competition Tesla is facing in China’s EV market, where numerous local automakers continue to launch new models and offer aggressive promotions.

Model Y Under Pressure, While Model 3 Continues to Grow
When deliveries are broken down by model, the performance of the two vehicles shows a clear contrast
  • Model Y: Approximately 29,260 units delivered, down 25.8% YoY
  • Model 3: Approximately 20,787 units delivered, up 17.2% YoY

Although the Model Y remains Tesla's best-selling vehicle in China, its sales have fallen significantly. Meanwhile, the Model 3 Highland continues to gain popularity and maintain strong growth.

Gigafactory Shanghai Remains a Key Export Hub
Despite softer domestic demand, Gigafactory Shanghai continues to play a crucial role in Tesla's global production and export strategy. In August 2026, the factory exported 36,119 vehicles, an increase of approximately 39% year-over-year. The figures indicate strong demand from overseas markets and reinforce Shanghai's position as one of Tesla's most important manufacturing and export facilities worldwide.

Summary
The return of cash discounts on Inventory Vehicles by Tesla China in September 2026 is another sign that the company is accelerating its sales efforts amid increasingly fierce competition in China's electric vehicle market. The Model Y is facing growing pressure from competitors, while the Model 3 continues to maintain strong sales growth.
