Tesla Cybercab Fleet Surpasses 300 Vehicles in Austin, Growing 8 Times in Just 30 Days

Tesla continues to expand its Robotaxi service in the United States. According to reports published on October 10, 2026, the Cybercab fleet in Austin, Texas, has surpassed 300 vehicles, growing eightfold in just 30 days. This marks another important milestone in Tesla's development of autonomous transportation.

The rapid growth shows how Tesla is moving Cybercab beyond the concept vehicle unveiled in 2024 toward larger-scale real-world operations. However, some details about how the fleet operates remain unclear.

From a Few Dozen Vehicles to Over 300 Cybercabs
In just one month, the number of Cybercabs in Austin has increased significantly, with reports indicating that the fleet has grown eightfold compared to the previous month.

Vehicle registration data from Texas also reportedly shows 319 Cybercabs registered in the state, up from 169 after an additional 150 vehicles were registered.

However, registered vehicles do not necessarily represent the number of Cybercabs actively transporting passengers. It is important to distinguish between registration figures and vehicles currently operating in the Robotaxi service.

Cybercab: A Vehicle Designed for the Future of Transportation
Unlike conventional Tesla models, Cybercab has been developed specifically for Robotaxi services. The vehicle accommodates two passengers and is designed without a traditional steering wheel or pedals.

Tesla envisions Cybercab as part of an autonomous transportation network where passengers can request rides through the Robotaxi platform without needing to own a vehicle.

The fleet's expansion in Austin is particularly significant because Tesla must demonstrate more than just technological capabilities. The company also needs to prove that it can efficiently manage a growing fleet and deliver reliable passenger services under real-world conditions.

Are All 300+ Cybercabs Fully Autonomous?
Despite the rapid expansion, one important question remains: How many Cybercabs are operating without human supervision?

There is currently no clear confirmation that all 300+ Cybercabs can operate completely without human oversight. Tesla has also not provided a detailed breakdown of how many vehicles still require a Safety Monitor or other forms of supervision.
Therefore, while the growing fleet represents meaningful progress, it does not confirm that every Cybercab is operating as a fully unsupervised Robotaxi.

Dallas Could Be the Next City for Cybercab
Following the latest developments in Austin, Tesla's AI executive Ashok Elluswamy reportedly indicated that Cybercab could expand to Dallas in the near future. However, an official launch date has not yet been announced.

If Tesla successfully expands its Robotaxi operations to additional cities, it would mark another major step toward building a broader autonomous transportation network beyond its initial operating areas.

A Major Milestone for Tesla, but Challenges Remain
From Cybercab's debut at the We, Robot event in 2024 to reports of a fleet exceeding 300 vehicles in Austin in 2026, Tesla continues working to bring autonomous driving technology into everyday transportation.

Looking ahead, the key questions go beyond how quickly the fleet can grow. Safety, autonomous driving reliability, and the ability to expand operations into additional cities will be equally important.

Cybercab could become one of Tesla's most significant projects in shaping the future of mobility. However, its long-term success will depend on whether the technology can consistently deliver safe, reliable, and efficient transportation in real-world conditions.
